2 Isabela village execs die in road mishap

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan , Philippines  —  Two barangay officials died while four others were seriously injured when their Toyota Fortuner rammed an electric post and fell into a rice field in Barangay Pragata, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte on Wednesday.

Reports received by Chief Inspector Marlon Padamada, Pasuquin police chief, identified the fatalities as Josephine Moises, 51, and Edmundo Martillano, 61, both treasurers of a barangay in Burgos, Isabela.

Wounded were the driver of the vehicle, Novelito Abaya, 52; Sangguniang Kabataan chairman Junard Salacup, 23; barangay kagawad Domingo Lastimosa, 44, and barangay treasurer Elizabeth Bucag, 56.

Police said the victims were on their way to attend a convention in Laoag City when the accident occurred.
