Earthquakes shake Antique, South Cotabato

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Antique and South Cotabato were hit by earthquakes yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Phivolcs said a magnitude 3.6 quake struck 20 kilometers northwest of San Jose de Buenavista, Antique at about 4:45 a.m.

The quake was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in San Jose de Buenavista, Sibalom and Belison, all in Antique.

At around 9:18 a.m., a magnitude 3.5 quake hit Sto. Niño, South Cotabato. Its epicenter was located nine kilometers southeast of the town. It was felt at Intensity 2 in T’boli.

Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quakes.
