Police nab 71 drug suspects in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — At least 71 persons were apprehended by police in separate anti-narcotics operations in Metro Manila in the past two days.

Thirty-nine of the suspects were nabbed by operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD). Among the suspects were Ismael Ilano and Allan Castro, 20.

The MPD public information office said eight drug suspects were arrested in Station 2; four each in Stations 7 and 11; five in Station 1; three in Station 10; two each in Stations 3 and 4, and 10 in Station 9.

Police said they recovered 50 sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia during the operations.

In Quezon City, a driver of a ridesharing firm and 25 others were arrested for illegal drugs yesterday.

Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., director of the Quezon City Police District, said the suspects were collared in Barangays Balon Bato, Unang Sigaw, Greater Fairview, Payatas, Santa Monica and Bagong Silangan.

Six other drug suspects were arrested in separate stings in Muntinlupa and Taguig.

They were Jewerson Ballatan, 28; Luijie Paulo Carapatan, 31; Jingrose Sitoy, 25; Ana Marie Alba, 49; Miguel Magno, 29, and Michael Cajocon, 35.

The suspects are being held by police on charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. – Non Alquitran, Ghio Ong
