MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is accepting franchise applications for 20 routes for the Parañaque Integrated Terminal (PITX) in a bid to ease congestion and the lack of public transportation at the new terminal.

Under Memorandum Circular No. 2019-005, the LTFRB opened 10 routes for public utility buses, two routes for UV Express vans and eight routes for passenger jeepneys.

More than 600 public utility vehicles will be covered under the franchises.

Applicants should have P10 million for buses, P2.2 million for UV Express vans and P2,000 for jeepneys multiplied by the total number of vehicles in the route.

Existing or area-based operators shall be given preference with regard to their compliance to their qualifications.

A quarter of the required units per franchise should be delivered within three months from the notice of selection and the whole fleet should be in service within nine months, the LTFRB said.

The deadline for the submission of documents is on Jan. 31.

The LTFRB said there is a need to improve the accessibility of PITX following multiple complaints by commuters.
