Guns, weed seized in Quezon City raids

MANILA, Philippines — Two kilos of marijuana and a stash of firearms were confiscated in two raids by the Quezon City police since Friday.

Police found two bricks of marijuana, with a street value of P240,000, and 57 sachets of marijuana leaves worth P34,000 at the house of Edwin de Leon, 56, in Barangay Sta. Monica at around 7:45 p.m.

Also seized were five sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and a weighing scale.

Operatives were implementing a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Cecilyn Villavert. 

Police said De Leon, a drug surrenderee, is the No. 1 drug personality of the Novaliches police station. 

Another raid by the same unit led to the arrest of alleged gunrunner and drug pusher Michael Bautista, 29, at his home along Victoria street in Barangay Gulod at around 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

Three .38 caliber revolvers, a .22 caliber pistol, two homemade shotguns, ammunition, two sachets of shabu and three sachets of marijuana were recovered at Bautista’s home. 

Meanwhile, at least 25 drug suspects arrested in separate operations in Barangays Bungad, San Antonio, Damayan, Bagong Silangan, San Martin De Porres, Holy Spirit, Escopa, Bagumbayan and Tatalon. 

In Makati, Talde siblings Ricky James, Hilario and Lara were arrested in a sting in Pasay City Friday.

The siblings yielded three sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia, Southern Police District spokesperson Superintendent Jenny Tecson said.

Police also arrested Rommel Enabe in Pasay and seized nine sachets of shabu from him.

In Makati, Gina Hampangan, Efren dela Cruz and Victorio Dolot were arrested in Barangay Sta. Cruz and yielded nine sachets of shabu.

In Pasig, Emmanuel Borja and Eduardo Buenaobra were arrrested in a sting. Ten sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia were seized from them.

In Manila, Joel Bonsol, Ruel Fuentes, Mark Vincent Rabusa and Eloisa Santos were arrested in a sting before dawn yesterday.
