‘Agaag na Kapitolyo’ in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines — Thousands of locals and visitors are expected to troop today to the plaza to witness the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the province’s capitol building.

“Agaag na Kapitolyo” is led by Gov. Amado Espino III. A thanksgiving mass will be celebrated by Bishop Ricardo Bacay, archbishop of Alaminos Diocese.

Following the mass are a concert and variety show, 100 lights dance, 3D projection of the capitol building history and fireworks display.

The capitol building has been named one of the eight architectural treasures of the country.

“It is an icon of the provincial government’s commitment to strengthen further the cultural heritage of the province,” said Malu Elduayan, provincial tourism and cultural affairs officer.

Contruction of the building was completed in December 1918.
