Retired fiscal loses P4 million to burglars

MANILA, Philippines — A retired prosecutor lost at least P4 million in cash, jewelry and personal belongings to robbers who broke into his house in Quezon City over the weekend.

Police identified the victim as George Cabanilla, 65, of Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa. 

The break-in was discovered by Cabanilla’s housemaid at around 5:20 a.m. on Saturday, police said.

She told probers she saw the house in disarray and the kitchen window destroyed when she woke up.

The stolen items include two rings worth P3 million, earrings worth P800,000, P150,000 in cash and other valuables.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City police.
