3 soldiers hurt in Quezon clash with Reds

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Philippines — Three soldiers were wounded in an encounter with New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Barangay San Bueno, Sampaloc, Quezon on Tuesday morning.

The military said 2nd Lt. Glent Paul Lim and Sgts. Mien Jackly and Velmer Torente were taken to the Mauban District Hospital for treatment. 

Brig. Gen. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr., 202nd Infantry Brigade commander, said government troopers overran an NPA camp, where an M16 rifle, various types of ammunition, personal belongings and war materiel were recovered, following the clash.
