NBI raids shop selling photocopied books along Morayta, Recto
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday raided a warehouse in Manila where hundreds of thousands of photocopied books were confiscated.
Raiders from the NBI Intellectual Rights Property Division swooped down on the building at the corner of Morayta and Claro M. Recto Avenue at past 12 p.m.
The NBI said law, medical and accounting books as well as high school and elementary textbooks were seized in the operation.
The raid stemmed from a complaint filed by Rex Publishing Inc. that their books were being printed illegally and sold at cheaper prices along Claro M. Recto Avenue.
The NBI conducted test buys and secured a search warrant from the court prior to the raid.
