Drug surrenderee slain
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A drug surenderee has been killed in an alleged encounter with police officers in Valderrama, Antique.
Alberto Fernando, 38, died after he allegedly exchanged fire with a joint team of the provincial and municipal police in Barangay Ubos on Thursday.
Fernando allegedly pulled out a gun and shot at the officers after he sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover agent, case investigator Senior Police Officer 3 Pedro Ostan Jr. said.
Fernando suffered two gunshot wounds in the chest. He died while being treated at the Valderrama Municipal Hospital.
Police said a .38 caliber revolver was recovered from the suspect.
