Erap supports Harry Roque’s Senate bid

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada said yesterday he is supporting the senatorial candidacy of former presidential spokesman Harry Roque.

In a telephone interview with The STAR, Estrada said Roque is the eighth in the list of senatorial candidates he is supporting for the May 13 elections next year.

“He has been my friend for a very long time. I believe he can be a good senator, being articulate and a good lawyer,” Estrada said.

Roque visited Estrada at the Manila city hall on Monday and the former president raised his hand.

Estrada is also endorsing the senatorial candidacies of his son, former senator Jinggoy Estrada; reelectionist Senators Grace Poe and Nancy Binay; former senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Ramon Revilla Jr.; former congresswoman Imee Marcos and former presidential assistant Christopher “Bong” Go.
