Ex-Army man yields P1.3-M shabu

MANILA, Philippines — A dismissed member of the Philippine Army and two others were arrested for alleged possession of P1.3 million worth of shabu during a sting in Parañaque City on Thursday.

John Wyne Arnaiz, 40, alias Bossing, was nabbed along with Joseph Cabatbat, 37, and Valentin Arnaiz, 52.

Director Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, said they recovered around 205 grams of shabu from the suspects.

Eleazar said John Wyne was tagged as the source of shabu in Parañaque and nearby areas.

Probers said a policeman posed as a buyer and arranged the purchase of 50 grams of shabu for P444,000 from the younger Arnaiz.

The suspects arrived in a Toyota Vios (VK-5960) at the parking lot of a mall in Sucat where the drug deal took place, police said.

Five persons were apprehended in separate anti-narcotics operations in Marikina, Pasay, Pasig and San Juan City.

They were Arvhy Jose Bernardo, 20; Daryl James Diaz, 18; Ronald James Saygo; April Vanessa Nuyde, 26, and Sulaiman Abangad.

The suspects are being held by police on charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. – Ghio Ong
