2 drown in Pangasinan river

SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan, Philippines — Two elementary students drowned while two others were reported missing while crossing a river in Barangay Sobol in this town on Friday.

The fatalities were identified as Mary Jane Aquino, 13, a Grade 7 pupil, and Angel Uson, 10,  Grade 5, both residents of Barangay Bolasi. They were reportedly swept away by the strong current of the river, which connects Barangays Sobol and Nibaliw East. 

Their companion, Micah Janell, managed to swim to shore.

Personnel of the San Fabian police, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Philippine National Police Maritime Group and Philippine Coast Guard launched search and rescue operations for the two other students.
