MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected gunrunners were killed in a reported encounter with policemen in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City on Wednesday.
Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., director of the Quezon City Police District, said the unidentified suspects were in their 30s or 40s.
The alleged leader of the gunrunning group – Jose Guevarra, who was the subject of the operation – escaped in a Toyota Vios and left the suspects to fend for themselves, Esquivel said.
Policemen recovered a .38 caliber revolver, a .22 caliber revolver, an MK2 fragmentation grenade, two homemade shotguns, assorted bullets, five sachets of shabu and P2,000 in cash from the suspects.
