BACOLOD CITY – A police officer was shot dead by a suspect in a shooting incident in Victorias, Negros Occidental on Sunday.
Senior Police Officer 2 Antonio Broce was declared dead on arrival at the Kaayong Lawas Primary Hospital.
Richard Artagame, who claims to be a civilian confidential agent of an Army unit based in Cebu, was arrested.
Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpus, Victorias police officer-in-charge, said Broce, 42, was off-duty when he was called to the scene after Artagame reportedly shot Edgar Saludes in Barangay 21.
Saludes was confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in this city.
Corpus denied claims of a shootout, noting that Artagame used a human shield.
