Drug war: 3 dead, 25 arrested

MANILA, Philippines — At least three persons with alleged links to the illegal drug trade were killed in Metro Manila over the past two days.

In Manila, alleged pusher Reynante Garate, also known as “Boy Buang,” was shot dead in a drug sting at a narrow alley in the Manila North Cemetery Friday night.

Garate, 44, was a member of the Batang City Jail, police said.

He was declared dead on arrival at the Chinese General Hospital.

Police recovered five sachets of shabu and a revolver from the suspect.

Alleged pusher Joselito Toquero was killed by police in a purported shootout during a drug sting along MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City Friday night.

Toquero was declared dead on arrival at the Valenzuela Medical Center.

Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol and seven sachets of shabu from the suspect.

In Malabon, Raul Jun Ang, 37, who surrendered to police under Oplan Tokhang, was shot by two still unidentified assailants while he was playing games at a computer shop in Barangay Catmon, Malabon City Friday night.

Another man acted as a lookout during the shooting, police said.

Police recovered from the crime scene five fired cartridge cases of a .45 caliber pistol.

Meanwhile, 21 persons were arrested in Quezon City for drug-related offenses while four were apprehended in eastern Metro Manila over the past two days. - Emmanuel Tupas
