QC suspends classes on Monday to honor ex-president Quezon

MANILA, Philippines — Classes on Monday, August 20 are suspended in all levels in Quezon City to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Manuel Quezon.

The suspension will cover both public and private schools.

It was declared by Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista through a memorandum released Friday.

“The suspension is to allow the student community to commemorate the birth anniversary of President Manuel Luis Quezon in fitting localized ceremonies and activities,” the memorandum said.

Quezon was born on Aug. 19, 1878. 

Republic Act 6741 declared August 19 of every year a special non-working public holiday in the provinces of Quezon, Aurora and Quezon City.
