LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines  —  Six police chiefs in Pangasinan have been relieved from their posts due to their poor performance.

Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Ilocos police director, said the police chiefs of Asingan, San Manuel, Sison, Sta. Maria, Balungao and Aguilar were replaced effective Aug. 8.

The relief was ordered a week after 13 police chiefs in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte and La Union were replaced also for failing their evaluation rating.

In Zambales, Senior Inspector Edwin Bumanlag, San Felipe police chief, and six of his men were relieved from their posts yesterday after they were caught sleeping while on duty.

The police officers were asked to submit a written explanation why they should not face administrative charges for neglect of duty.
