PNR reopens Caloocan-Dela Rosa line
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Railways (PNR) reopened yesterday its train service from Caloocan City to Dela Rosa in Makati after it was shut down in 1997.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said the project was in line with the efforts of the Duterte administration to revive the country’s railways.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Caloocan-Dela Rosa line is the fastest and cheapest means of transportation from Caloocan to Makati, with a running time of 37 minutes.
PNR general manager Junn Magno said the revival of the line segment was made possible with the help of other government agencies.
The DOTr said six trains were deployed during the soft opening yesterday to accommodate around 10,000 passengers.
Minimum fare is P12 for non-air-conditioned and P15 for air-conditioned trains.
