SC junks plea to probe PET staff outing
MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC), sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, has denied former senator Ferdinand Marcos’ motion for the PET to investigate a staff outing that involved one of Vice President Leni Robredo’s revisors.
In a six-page notice of resolution issued on July 10, Clerk of the Tribunal Edgar Aricheta said the PET denied Marcos’ motion as it has concluded its investigation of the “Pansol outing.”
The controversial outing was allegedly joined by 24 PET employees, 10 of whom are head revisors, and one of Robredo’s revisors.
The revisors are in charge of determining the number of votes garnered by either party in the ongoing manual recount for the May 2016 vice presidential race.
Robredo’s lawyer Romeo Macalintal said all party revisors from both camps were invited to the outing.
Marcos “conveniently omitted” that an investigation has already been conducted and there were people penalized, Macalintal said.
Macalintal also said that Marcos was aware of the outing since one of his revisors, a certain Roderick Miranda, allegedly sent food for the outing. – Helen Flores
