Butcher kills wife, shot dead by cop

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — A butcher who allegedly killed his wife in Barangay Sawmill, Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya on Thursday was gunned down by a police officer.

Romulo Paculla, 55, reportedly hacked to death his wife Teresita, 55, an employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, at around 3:30 a.m.

The daughter of the couple, Descell Faith, was wounded and remains confined at the Veterans Memorial Regional Hospital.

Chief Inspector Juancho Crisostomo, Villaverde police chief, said the responding police officer was forced to shoot Romulo for attacking him with a bolo.
