Magnitude 4.9 quake hits Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake shook parts of Zamboanga peninsula yesterday, but no damage or injuries were reported. 

Allan Rommel Labayog, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology field officer and science and research analyst, said the epicenter of the tremor, which occurred at about 6:12 a.m., was located nine kilometers northwest of Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte. 

The temblor was felt at Intensity 3 in Liloy, Manukan, Sindangan and Intensity 2 in Jose Dalman Leon Postigo and Tampilisan, all in Zamboanga del Norte. It was felt at Intensity 1 in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga City.– Helen Flores
