Magnitude 4.9 quake hits Zamboanga Del Norte

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake has jolted Zamboanga del Norte on Monday morning.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake occurred at around 6:12 a.m. Its epicenter was traced at 46 km North West of Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Intensity III was felt in Liloy, Manukan and Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte while Jose Dalman, Leon Postigo and Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte experienced Intensity II.

The cities of Pagadian and Zamboanga City recorded the quake at Intensity I.

Phivolcs said there are no expected aftershocks or damage from the earthquake.

The institute recorded 13 other quakes on Monday. All were determined to be tectonic in origin.
