New San Vicente Airport in Palawan inaugurated

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) inaugurated the San Vicente Airport in Palawan yesterday.

The construction of the airport, which began in 2009, aims to boost tourism not only in San Vicente town, but in other parts of northern Palawan.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, Undersecretary for aviation and airports Manuel Antonio Tamayo, Undersecretary for administration and finance Gary de Guzman and CAAP Director Jim Sydiongco as well as Palawan Rep. Franz Alvarez, Palawan Gov. Jose Alvarez and San Vicente Mayor Maria Carmela Alvarez attended the inauguration.

The airport was opened to light aircraft on June 22, 2017 while Air Juan began chartered flights in August.

San Vicente is home to the country’s longest white sand beach spanning 14 kilometers in four barangays.
