MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said yesterday they have identified the policemen who have been bashing him on social media platform Facebook.

Albayalde is set to confront on Monday the policemen who criticized him on Facebook page Buhay Lespu.

“We have already identified these policemen and already gave a directive that they report to me on Monday,” he  said on Wednesday in a television interview over UNTV.

Albayalde did not disclose the names and number of police officers involved, whom he said are hiding behind the social media accounts of their relatives.

The police officers will be slapped with administrative charges and could face dismissal from the service for insubordination, he said.

“We don’t want people with these kinds of attitude in our ranks,” Albayalde said.

The current PNP chief has been the subject of criticisms from supposed police officers on Facebook since he was still the chief of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Albayalde said he has been accused by his critics of scoring brownie points every time he berated in front of members of media police officers for not doing their jobs.

He is known for conducting surprise nighttime inspections of police stations and has caught several policemen sleeping or drinking while on the job.

According to Albayalde, policemen with complaints about the organization can approach their immediate superiors and grievance committees.

“They can always express themselves but it must be in a proper manner,” he said.
