Drug war: 4 killed in Calabarzon

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines — Four drug suspects were killed in alleged shootouts with police officers in Calabarzon over the weekend.

One of the fatalities, identified as “Bumbay” reportedly pulled out a gun during a sting in General Trias City, Cavite at dawn yesterday.

The suspect died at the scene.

In Laguna, Jerwin Bartolazo and Jay Manalo reportedly engaged police officers in a firefight following a sting in Barangay Platero, Biñan on Saturday night. They both died at the scene.

Earlier in the day, Albert Rico Tayum was killed in an alleged encounter in Barangay San Roque, Antipolo City.

Several hours later, Rolando Lumang-las was walking in Gulod Itaas, Batangas City when he was shot dead by two unidentified assailants.

Police have yet to determine if Lumanglas’ slay was drug-related.
