Suspects in slay of farmer, daughter fall
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Police are close to resolving the killing of a farmer and his daughter in Silay, Negros Occidental on Tuesday after one of the suspects surrendered and another was arrested on Wednesday.
Arnel Aguilar was arrested after Rogelia Landao, the former partner of Antonio Padua and mother of Rhea Ann, 8, surrendered to the police, saying she was overcome by guilt.
Landao claimed Aguilar, the former partner of her daughter, stabbed and burned the victims following an argument when Padua failed to give him money.
However, Aguilar denied involvement in the killings.
The charred remains of the victims, which bore hack wounds and placed on top of each other, were discovered at around 5 a.m.
Police said Aguilar faces charges for murder while Landao will be charged with parricide.
