MANILA, Philippines — Police confiscated at least one kilo of shabu worth P5 million during a raid on a condominium unit in Muntinlupa City yesterday morning.

Operatives of the Philippine National Police drug enforcement group, National Capital Region Police Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the city police recovered the illegal drugs from a condo unit at Rhapsody Residences in Barangay Buli at around 5:40 a.m.

The raiders were armed with a search warrant issued by Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Branch 204 Judge Juanita Guerrero.

The target of the operation, Yang Ang Quan, alias Li Hong Peng, was not around during the raid.

Peng is said to be the leader of a drug ring with his Filipina partner Aina Laquire.

PNP DEG head Chief Superintendent Albert Ferro said Peng was previously arrested in a drug sting in San Juan City where at least 20 kilos of shabu were seized by police. But the suspect managed to post bail.

16 drug suspects fall

In Caloocan City, 10 persons were arrested in separate drug stings on Sunday.

They were Gilbert Gelbueron, Orwin Callejo, Danilo Ablaza, Manuel Ligtao, Abdul Maruhum, Rommel Morales, Roger Lunod, Benjamin Davao, Nelson Rivas and Paul Renz Abing.

Six more drug suspects were apprehended in Marikina and Mandaluyong.

Police said they confiscated packs of shabu from Dondon Gregorio, Jomar Peña, Redgie de Guzman, Roger Sayson, Roberot Mora and Kristoffer Klein Borromeo.

The suspects are being held by police on charges of violationg Republic Act 9165 or  the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. – With Non Alquitran, Marc Jayson Cayabyab
