Student held for rape try on grandma, 81

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — A student believed to be high on drugs was arrested for allegedly trying to rape his 81-year-old grandmother in Barangay Borono, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur on Saturday. 

Responding policemen caught the suspect while removing the diaper of his grandmother, Chief Inspector Winnie de Vera, Ilocos Sur police spokesperson, said.

Police said a sachet of shabu was recovered from the suspect, who according to his neighbors is suffering from mental disorder.

In another incident, Erwin Anog, 40, was arrested for allegedly hacking his grandmother Rowena Lasam, 66, while washing the dishes at their residence in Barangay Caritan Norte in this town on Friday.

Lasam was seriously injured and confined in a hospital.
