7 girls, 3 women rescued from sex ring

MANILA, Philippines — At least 10 females, seven of them minors, were rescued from a prostitution ring based in a hotel in Tondo, Manila Wednesday night.

Members of the Philippine National Police’s Women and Children Protection Center arrested a 20-year-old man who acted as a pimp during a sting at around 9:30 p.m.

The pimp used Facebook to contact clients and offer sex for P2,500.

Police barged into the hotel after undercover agents closed a deal with the pimp and found the females in a room, waiting for clients.

One of the victims admitted she was selling her body because of poverty. 

The pimp said the women came to him and asked him to find clients for them.

Police said hotel officials and employees knew about the scheme and will be included in the charge sheet. 

There were reports that the police raided the same hotel several years ago and rescued 24 women.

Charges of trafficking in person were filed against the pimp while the minors were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
