Reds burn cargo truck in Negros

MANILA, Philippines — Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels burned a cargo truck in Sitio Tabalogo, Barangay Budlasan, Canlaon, Negros Oriental on Thursday.

Witnesses said around 10 armed rebels ordered the driver and farm workers to get off and poured gasoline on the vehicle before setting it on fire.

The NPA guerrillas reportedly told the driver and workers that their employer refused to pay so-called revolutionary tax.

Personnel of the 62nd Infantry Battalion and the Canlaon police have launched a manhunt for the rebels. – Gilbert Bayoran
