Ex-MTPB employee poses as official
MANILA, Philippines — A former employee of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau was arrested Wednesday for allegedly misrepresenting himself as an MTPB official.
Samuel Sawit, 44, who was dismissed from the service last year, arrived at the MTPB’s central impounding area along Quezon Boulevard wearing an MTPB official’s uniform, Manila Police District Station 3 commander Superintendent Arnold Ibay said.
Mark Bien Urietta, MTPB’s anti-scalawag team leader, confronted Sawit asked him if he was indeed an employee.
During confrontation at the office, it was learned that Sawit was acting as fixer for impounded vehicles. He was charged with usurpation of authority.
