Cop, mailman nabbed at cockpit arena

AGUILAR, Pangasinan, Philippines — A police officer and a mailman have been arrested for allegedly violating a policy banning government workers in gambling establishments.

Police Officer 1 Michael Moreno of the Tarlac police station and Mars Quiñones of the Mangatarem Post Office were arrested at a cockpit arena in Barangay Laoag here on Friday.

Moreno and Quiñones were the first government workers to be arested after the local police implemented the policy, according to Senior Inspector Rowel Albano, town police chief.

Last week, President Duterte issued an order prohibiting  state workers from entering gambling establishments such as casinos and cockpit arenas.
