Quakes jolt Sarangani, Negros provinces

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit Sarangani on Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported yesterday. 

Allan Rommel Labayog, Phivolcs field officer, said the tremor occurred at around 10:54 p.m.

The epicenter of the quake, with a depth of 31 kilometers, was located some 57 kilometers southwest of Maasin town.

The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in General Santos City and Lake Sebu in South Cotabato and Alabel, Sarangani.

It was felt at Intensity 3 in Davao City, Intensity 2 in Zamboanga City as well as in Tupi,  Sto. Niño and Koronadal in South Cotabato. 

A magnitude 3.3 quake hit Negros Oriental at about 8:04 a.m. yesterday.

The epicenter of the quake was located 13 kms southwest of Dauin.
