Drug suspect, wanted man shot dead

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna  , Philippines  —  A drug suspect and a man wanted for various crimes were killed in separate shootings in Quezon and Laguna on Saturday afternoon.

Aries Rivera, 42, was standing in front of his house in Barangay Santo Cristo, San Pablo City in Laguna when an unidentified assailant shot him at around 8:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, Danny Medes, alias Danny Pingkaw, allegedly exchanged fire with police officers out to serve a warrant for his arrest in Lucena City, Quezon.

Medes, who was reportedly engaged in contract killing, died at the scene, according to Quezon police director Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento.     

The suspect was also reportedly involved in robbery and illegal drug trade.
