SAN JOSE DEL MONTE , Philippines – Police have identified two more suspects in the killing of a family of five in this city on Tuesday.
Superintendent Fitz Macariola, San Jose del Monte police chief, said Carmelino Ibañes, who earlier admitted to the crime, pointed to an alias Tony and alias Inggo as his accomplices.
Macariola said the two men could not be arrested until the court issues a warrant.
Tony, who was earlier considered a “person of interest,” was taken in for questioning on Friday. He was later released to his family in Barangay Sto. Cristo.
Police said Ibañes confessed in front of his mother and sister on Wednesday night that a combination of alcohol and shabu drove him to stab dead Auring Dizon, 58; her daughter Estrella Carlos, 28, and Carlos’ three children Donnie, 11; Ella, 7 and Dexter Jr., 1. He said he also raped Dizon, who had no underwear, and Carlos, naked, when their bodies were found.
Negative for drugs
Ibañes had said he and his companions drank gin and sniffed shabu before killing the victims.
However, Macariola said Ibañes tested negative for illegal drugs.
Several witnesses reportedly surfaced when Mayor Arthur Robes and Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado offered a reward of P200,000 for information leading to the arrest of the assailants.
Robes said the city government provided assistance to the family of the victims. He said they also offered a job for the husband of Carlos, Dexter, as security guard at the city hall.
On Friday, Persida Rueda-Acosta, chief of the Public Attorney’s Office, visited the wake of the victims. She assured Dexter that PAO would represent him in the case.
