100 arrested in Pasig, Parañaque anti-crime drives

MANILA, Philippines -  More than 100 persons were arrested during police operations in Parañaque and Pasig cities Friday night, officials said yesterday.

Parañaque police chief Senior Superintendent Jemar Modequillo said an operation was held at past 10 p.m. in Barangays San Dionisio and San Isidro, where they rounded up 15 shirtless bystanders, 46 minors who violated curfew, 31 men drinking on the street and 11 fugitives who are subjects of arrest warrants.

Police officers also recovered 24 motorcycles with no ownership documents, he said.

In Pasig, a drug suspect was arrested during an operation in Barangay Rosario, Superintendent Hendrix Mangaldan said.

Police officers invited 42 men for verification of their identities and two were found to be subjects of arrest warrants for damage to property with less serious physical injuries and qualified theft, he said.
