Ex-Caloocan Mayor Boy Asistio dies at 80

MANILA, Philippines — Former Mayor of Caloocan City Macario “Boy” Asistio Jr. passed away on Monday morning. He was 80 years old.

The news was confirmed by Asistio’s longtime partner, actress Nadia Montenegro on her Instagram account. She said the former politician joined the Creator at 10:55 a.m.

“Thank you Lord for his life. Open the gates of heaven for Boy. Details of the interment will follow,” she wrote on her Instagram account.

Montenegro, Asistio’s partner for 27 years, earlier called for prayers for her partner who was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Metro Antipolo Hospital and Medical Center for suffering coma.

Asistio’s children, including celebrities Ynna, Alyanna, and Abby, took to Instagram to seek prayers for their father. Abby is Boy’s daughter to former actress Veronica Jones.

The Asistios are mourning the death of the head of the family and posted a tribute for the former mayor on social media.

Asistio served as the Caloocan City mayor from 1980 to 1986 and was re-elected in 1988 serving until 1995. He ran for mayor in 2013 and 2016 but he lost and failed to return to office.
