Erap suspends work, classes tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines – Work in the Manila city government as well as classes at all levels in Binondo, Sta. Cruz and Quiapo are suspended tomorrow.

Mayor Joseph Estrada signed yesterday Executive Order No. 2 suspending work and classes as part of the celebration of the Chinese New Year on Saturday.

“We are suspending work and classes to ensure public safety and to decongest traffic during the occasion,” Estrada said.

The mayor said city hall personnel whose departments are involved in the maintenance of peace and order, traffic enforcement, disaster and risk reduction management, health and sanitation should report to work.

Estrada ordered the Manila Police District led by Chief Superintendent Joel Coronel to secure the events for the Chinese New Year.
