Woman nabbed for swindling

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested on Friday a woman who allegedly sweet-talked a businessman into investing his money in a supply deal with the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Russia Lopez Sevilla, alias Rasha Lopez Zaballero, 41, was collared in an entrapment at a restaurant on EDSA in Caloocan City at past 1 p.m.

Police recovered from the suspect P5,000 in marked money placed in an envelope.

Sevilla’s arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by businessman Amadel Agulto, 41, who told police that in March the suspect persuaded him to invest some P2.5 million in the deal.

Agulto said the suspect claimed she had connections and knew some PNP officials who would help them facilitate their trade.

The complainant said Sevilla demanded another P200,000 and asked for his business permit to facilitate the purchase orders for the office supplies. He said it was then that he decided to seek the help of the police.
