MANILA, Philippines -- Five people, including a 60-year-old housewife, were arrested in Taguig City early Friday for allegedly using illegal drugs.

Taguig City police identified those arrested as Jovie Arpilleda, 30; of Purok 2, Barangay Sucat, Muntinlupa City; Sharon Lagumbay, alias Sha, 33, Barangay South Daang Hari, Taguig City; Marlon Mercado Liwanag, alias Anlon Kalbo, 39, of Tiaong, Quezon; Francisco David, alias “Utoy,” 43, of Barangay South Daang Hari; and Lilia Montanez, 60, also of Barangay South Daang Hari.

According to the Taguig police, officers were conducting an “Oplan Tokhang” before midnight in Barangay South Daang Hari when an informant relayed that a group was engaged in illegal drug use in the area.

The police officers caught the suspects as they were using illegal drugs and promptly arrested them.

Police recovered a small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu from Lagumbay.

They also recovered a transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu from David, while three small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu were seized from Arpilleda.

Montanez meanwhile yielded two improvised glass tooters, four pieces of aluminum foil and two disposable lighters.

The suspects are now in the custody of the Taguig City police as charges for illegal drug possession and use are now being prepared for filing before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.
