Intel officer slain in ambush

LAGUNA, Philippines – A police official was killed while his wife and daughter were wounded in an ambush in Lumban town on Thursday night.

Police Officer 3 Dustin Gomez, 40, intelligence officer of the Pagsanjan police, died at the scene.

Sheena Abadier, 24, and Jan Daniele Gomez, 4, were brought to the Pagsanjan Medical Center for treatment.

The alleged gunman, Moises Bagabaldo, and two others identified as Niño Flores and Brenn Collin were collared in a follow-up operation, said Senior Inspector Vicente Jarque, Pagsanjan police chief.

Probers said the victims were on a motorcycle on their way home at around 9 p.m. when they were waylaid.

Jarque said the suspects would be charged with murder and illegal possession of firearms.
