Cloud-seeding brings rains over Negros

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Cloud-seeding operations have induced rains in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental since Sunday.

Corazon Ditarro, agro-hydrology and rain simulation section of  the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Bureau of Soils Water Management, said it rained in the cities of San Carlos, Cadiz,  Talisay,  Bacolod, Bago, La Carlota, Kabankalan and Sipalay  and the towns  of  Pontevedra, San Enrique, Hinigaran, Moises Padilla and Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental and  in Mabinay in Negros Oriental.

Negros Occidental was placed under a state of calamity on April 22 for incurring P403.5 million in damages to sugar, rice, livestock, poultry and fishery due to the dry spell. 

The DA allotted P2 million for cloud-seeding operations for 45 hours.
