1 dead, 32 hurt in Benguet road mishap

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – A woman died while 32 others, mostly students, were injured in an accident in Benguet on Wednesday morning.

Investigation showed the victims were on their way to Bakun town to attend a scouting jamboree when their vehicle  (UJV-464) developed mechanical problem and turned over.

Julieta Sibayan Danio, 55, head teacher of Palina Elementary School in Kibungan town, died at the scene.

The injured were brought to the Kibungan rural health unit for treatment.

Jetson Cayad-an, the driver of the vehicle, surrendered to authorities.
