PDEA seizes P192K worth of shabu in Nueva Ecija raid

Methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu is still the most abused illegal drug in the country.

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities arrested a suspected drug den operator and six alleged customers of the establishment during a raid in Nueva Ecija, seizing more than P190,000 worth of shabu, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Friday.

PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. said operatives nabbed Vilma Reyes, 32, alleged drug den owner; Antonio Argulla, 39; Johncel Vince Ancheta, 21; Reynaldo Caba, 30; Rene Antonio Jr., 41; Kris Edson Carpio, 36; and Sherwin Mondejar, 29, all residents of Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija.

Belated reports showed that last September 16, PDEA operatives and the local police implemented a search warrant in Reyes's house in Purok 3, Barangay Mapalad around 10 p.m.

Authorities seized inside the house 17 plastic sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing more or less 55 grams, with an estimated street value of P192,500 and various drug paraphernalia.

The seven suspects are now facing illegal drug raps.
