NPA leader nabbed in Compostela Valley

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – An alleged official of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Maco, Compostela Valley Thursday night.

Francisco Saramosing, alias Zoilo Cadeliña or Isko, was collared by a joint police and military team in Barangay Anibongan.

Saramosing was said to be a former secretary of the NPA’s Guerrilla Front 27 operating in Southern Mindanao and now heads the sub-regional peasant bureau and executive committee of the NPA Southern Regional Command 2.

His arrest was based on three warrants for two counts of arson and murder issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 3 in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

No bail was recommended for Saramosing’s temporary liberty.

Maj. Gen. Rafael Valencia, chief of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division, said Saramosing’s arrest would weaken the morale of the rebel group operating in the area.
