Shabu is a white crystalline substance which is the most abused dangerous drug in the country.

MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents arrested a suspected drug courier during an operation in Cagayan, yielding an estimated P5 million worth of shabu, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday.

PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as  Francisco Torres, 28, of Gonzaga, Cagayan.

Belated reports said that authorities apprehended Torres last March 10 at a bus terminal in Barangay Libertad, Abulug, Cagayan.

Seized from the suspect was a large plastic bag containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu weighing more or less a kilogram, with an estimated market value of P5 million.

"Torres, who reportedly arrived from Manila, was at the waiting area of RCJ Bus Lines in Barangay Libertad, Abulug, Cagayan carrying the contraband when intercepted by the operating team," Cacdac said.

Torres will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Cagayan.
