2 dead in Cagayan gun attacks

TUGUEGARAO CITY,  Philippines  – A 68-year-old woman was one of two persons killed in separate shooting incidents believed sparked by an old grudge in Cagayan over the weekend.

Remedios Ascueta was urinating near her home in Barangay Pateng in Gonzaga town when an unidentified assailant shot her several times, said case investigator Police Officer 1 Sonny Agustin.

Investigators recovered nine bullet shells at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, in Lallo town, Warlito Israel, 43, was walking in Barangay Dagupan when he was shot at around 10 p.m.

Israel died while being treated at the Matilde Ovilas District Hospital.
