LTFRB grounds 70 buses pending road test

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has temporarily grounded 70 buses of a transport firm after one of its units was involved in an accident last week in Quezon City.

 

The grounding of the buses of Dela Rosa Transit took effect Monday pending the result of the road-worthiness test to be conducted by members of the Board's inspection team that went to the bus company's garage in Sto. Domingo, Binan, Laguna. 

 

As a matter of procedure, the bus drivers will also undergo drug tests and a safety driving seminar. 

 

If the buses pass the road-worthiness test, they will be allowed to ply their regular routes again. However, the five other buses of the firm covered by the franchise of the unit involved in the accident will remain be suspended for 30 days.

 

 

Last Thursday, a Dela Rosa bus rear-ended and crushed a car on the corner of Edsa and Munoz northbound. Though the Toyota Vios was totally wrecked, its driver survived.
