Over 25,000 families affected by 'Amang'

MANILA, Philippines - More than 25,000 families or over 100,000 persons were affected by tropical storm Amang in three regions, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Tuesday night.

 

In its 6 p.m. situational report, the NDRRMC said that of the affected population in Regions 5, 7, and 8, only 105 families or 420 persons have been assisted by local officials.

 

The death toll from the weather disturbance remains at two, the NDRRMC said. 

 

Meanwhile, the state emergency response body said that the cost of damage to agriculture in the provinces of Samar, eastern and northern Samar reached a total of P30.3 million.

 

A total of 538 houses in Regions 5 and 8 were damaged during the storm,the NDRRMC said. 

 

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has prepositioned more than P461 million worth of resources and standby funds in each of its regional offices to aid the affected families.
